Lines and wrinkles are the most common visible signs of ageing which affect men and women. They often make people look and feel older than they actually are and this often can result in serious dents to a person’s confidence. To combat these premature signs of ageing there are a number of Line & Wrinkle treatments aimed at minimizing wrinkles to restore a more youthful appearance.

Line and Wrinkle treatments (commonly known as Botox ®, Azzalure ®, Bocouture ®) are used to treat areas of the face and can combat fine lines and deep wrinkles.

Wrinkle relaxing injection treatments have been used for over 30 years and have had remarkable results with very few risks and no recovery time which is supported by a wealth of long term safety data. They have been used to treat millions of patients worldwide and are the world’s most popular non-surgical treatment.

Most common areas for Line and wrinkle treatments include:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows

Frequently Asked Questions

Botox®/Azzalure® - Isn’t it a toxin?
Botox®/Azzalure® (Botulinum Toxin Type A ) is made from a modified protein. Yes it is a toxin, but most medicines are potential toxins. Toxicity is about dose or how much is used. Many things that that are safe for humans in small doses are toxic in high doses. For example sugar and salt. In small doses Botox®/Azzalure® is very safe and has a therapeutic effect.

How does it work?
Botox® Azzalure® injections block the chemical signal that the brain sends to the muscle telling the muscle to contract. This means that when the brain says ‘squint’, its sunny’, the muscles are saying ‘I can’t here you’. In effect the treatment relaxes and lifts the muscle, softening the look of lines and giving a tighter, smoother appearance. It generally takes 3-14 days after treatment for the maximum effect to develop fully and re-treatment should not occur within that period.

I am worried that I may get the 'Frozen Face' like some celebrities?
This is a common concern. The large majority of clients do not tell anyone they have had the treatment. There are thousands and thousands of women and men who have had line and wrinkle treatment and nobody knows.
Nobody knows they have had treatments because they have a very natural effect. Everybody wants a different look so while it is possible to achieve that frozen look, most clients opt for a softer more natural look.

Does it Hurt? What can I expect when I have my treatment?
Lots of people have a fear of needles. I think it is a very basic instinct and quite normal and understandable. The needles used for treatments are a bit like acupuncture needles which are very small and fine. Most people find the treatment uncomfortable rather than painful, and usually the discomfort is much less than they expect. The trade off in terms of results makes any discomfort well worth it. The thing to remember about Botox®/Azzalure® is that it is a very quick and simple treatment to perform so any discomfort is over and done with quite quickly.

Is there any down time?
The treatment is non invasive with virtually no recovery time necessary – you can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment. Some clients will experience some tenderness, mild redness, swelling or bruising and headaches following the treatment but these are only short-term effects. Side effects are rare –indeed it is one of the safest cosmetic procedures available.

How long does the treatment last?
How long Botox® / Azzalure® lasts varies quite a lot between people. Everybody will measure it differently. Some people say that when the muscle starts to move a little bit that it has stopped working and others say that when they have full movement back that it has stopped working. Most people find that with regular treatment the effect lasts longer. On average effects last 3-4 months after initial treatment.

What, if any, are the possible side effects?
Side effects are rare. Some clients experience some tenderness, swelling, redness, bruising or itching at site of injection or headaches. It is possible to have a droopy eye from Botox® / Azzalure®. While it is not a pleasant thing to happen, it is always temporary. The incidence of droopy eye is more common in less experienced practitioners but it is a risk with all practitioners. The effect wears off within a week or two. All known side effects are temporary. It is still one of the safest cosmetic procedures available.

Who shouldn’t have Line & Wrinkle Treatments?
People with defective neuro-muscular transmission disorders, infection at the site of injection, pregnancy, and lactation.
